- Simplified the ability to find and identify sexual predators on town web page
- Required early voting elections to occur in city limits
- Enhanced public transportation and park development
- Sponsored first Environmental State of the Island Report
- Sponsor of Litter free South Padre Island
- Sponsor of the First and second annual Ecotourism summit- create bridge between economic development and the environment
- Sponsor Sea Life Day- community education of stranded animals and related subjects

- Supported Birding and Nature Center
These are just a few of the items Tara has spearheaded over the past two years as an elected official. She is looking forward to creating the same momentum and results based leadership in Austin. Dr. Tara believes in collaboration and compromise to achieve goals good for all Texans.
Creating Healthy Texas
Tara believes the struggle for affordable healthcare is a complex issue which needs true debate and resolution. Tara believes the men and women who serve in the armed forces should have quality health care in a VA hospital in South Texas.
Tara Rios Ybarra is a health care provider who believes affordable healthcare, clean food and water, quality education, and higher paying job opportunities are the bedrock of every community and are all required for a healthy life.
Higher Paying Jobs
Tara believes a healthy family, personal freedom and economic independence can be achieved by every Texan in our great state. The business community and local community leadership need a reliable and determined state representative to take their issue to Austin and create results. Tara believes in results based legislative agenda.
Education
Tara believes in using established educational institutions and developing them further. Tara believes in working with school districts to ensure that every Texas high school graduate is prepared to attend college, technical training or enter the job force. Tara will work for Social Security Fairness for teachers.
